Membrane bioreactor (MEMBRANE BIO-REACTOR, abbreviated as MBR) is a new type of water treatment technology and process combining membrane separation unit and biological treatment unit.
This technology can not only maintain a high concentration of microorganisms in the biological reactor, improve the volumetric load of the treatment device, save floor space, and efficient solid-liquid separation, replacing the traditional technology of sedimentation and filtration, the water quality of the system is good, and it can be directly reused as non-drinking municipal water.
Due to the presence of MBR membrane greatly improves the ability of solid-liquid separation of the system, microorganisms are completely retained in the bioreactor, eliminating the problem of sludge expansion in traditional activated sludge. As an efficient water treatment technology, membrane bioreactor has been widely used in all kinds of domestic sewage, municipal wastewater, organic industrial wastewater treatment and water reuse prohibited areas, effectively improving the sludge age growth of activated sludge.

MBR membrane process
Sewage flows through the mechanical grille (grille gap less than 1mm) to retain large particles of suspended solids and impurities, then flows into the sewage regulating tank for water quality and water quantity adjustment, and then lifted by the lifting pump to the MBR biological reaction system. The whole biochemical treatment system consists of pre-treatment tank and MBR reaction tank, according to the incoming water quality and effluent requirements, to determine whether the need for pre-treatment tank. The pre-treatment tank can adopt hydrolysis acidification, anaerobic or aerobic process, or anoxic denitrification tank. MBR reaction tank is equipped with submerged flat membrane module, constituting MBR - aerobic operation mode.

Membrane Element Structure:
The flat membrane element is composed of ABS liner, antibacterial flow guide cloth and inlaid PVDF flat membrane. It is in a vertical state during use. When the sewage is filtered through the membrane, the aeration at the bottom scours the surface of the membrane, making it difficult for activated sludge to deposit on the surface of the membrane, prolonging the cleaning cycle of the membrane and ensuring the long-term stability of the membrane equipment.
Structural Characteristics of Flat Plate Membrane Elements:
1.The hydrophilic cortex, near-cortex and porous support layer gradually become a sponge-like dense and topological structure with higher porosity.
2.The strong capillary force reduces the membrane pore resistance and improves the filtration flux in the membrane application.
3.The separation layer and the support layer form a semi-interpenetrating network, which improves the adhesion fastness and blasting strength between layers, prolongs the service life and backwash tolerance.

Flat plate membrane element working principle: the treated water after membrane filtration flows through the hydrophilic flow guide cloth, through the support plate of the the produced water flow channel is discharged from the water intake.
